As most would-be photographers know, snapping pictures while you’re out and about isn’t too hard.  It’s returning to your computer and transferring all the files that can be a pain.  But now Eye-Fi, which solved that problem with wireless memory cards, is letting developers get in on its game.

The Eye-Fi Developer Program launched today, and it’s off to a good start.  An impressive seven camera manufacturers are participating, along with 45 online services.

As for what the program’s supposed to do, an official release promised that it’s good for “[e]xtending the platforms with which Eye-Fi’d content can be viewed and shared, allowing users to view photos and videos sent to an Eye-Fi account from any website or application.”

Also, the platform’s capable of “[n]arrowing the gap between photo software and the plethora of online sharing and memory making platforms by granting access to send photos and videos to Eye-Fi’s ecosystem of 45 sharing sites.”

Then it can be used for “[e]nhancing the photo management experience by facilitating customization of the Eye-Fi card settings panel,” too.
This should give developers the opportunity to make some very positive impressions on photographers.
